PRECISION TOOLING SERVICES

There is a common misconception that you only need precision tooling if you have parts with tight tolerances.  The reality is that any tool can make a part to print at least once.  To make a part to print over and over again, easily with minimal impact to the production department requires a precision injection mold (tool).

When we talk about a precision tool, we are referring to a tool with the following characteristics:

  • Each component of the tool, from the moldbase to the cavity blocks and every ejector pin, slide, lifter, gib, etc. is made precisely to the design, within a tolerance of a few ten thousandths of an inch.
  • The tool is well-designed, which includes steel safe areas required for adjustment, significant cooling in both halves of the mold, proper injection for the chosen material and application and ample ejection in the right places.
  • The tool is designed with the proper injection molding press in mind.

At the end of the day, a precision injection mold tool can make a part to a high level of consistency, is easily maintained and allows for a very generous processing window.  A precision tool not only makes a dimensionally consistent part, but allows the production team to do what it does best, which is to put a tool in a press, run good quality parts, and move on to the next job.

What is Precision Tooling?

Precision tooling refers to an injection mold where the components of the mold are designed and fabricated to very close tolerances. Any industry can benefit from precision tooling. Typically the Automotive, Major Appliance and Aerospace industries realize the most benefit.

What are the Advantages of Precision Tooling?

The advantages in using a precision mold are reducing the cost of production and product introduction by having a mold that will consistently produce a dimensionally stable part.

Whether you are a buyer or an engineer, you’ve likely experienced this exact scenario: a part design is awarded to a supplier, tools built, samples molded, and it seems like you’re 98% of the way home… BUT… the supplier can’t quite hit those critical dimensions no matter what they do to the mold or the molding process.
WHY?

Success at PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) requires three things: a good part design, a well maintained molding machine and a precision injection mold. A precision injection mold and high-precision tooling allow for a full range of product customizations, increasing production quality, productivity, and repeatability.

High-precision tooling also involves a knowledge of the molding process at the molecular level. The integration of predictive software allows engineers to adjust the mold design before the steel is cut and the intelligent use of high speed CNC machining ensures that those predictions are realized.

Right from the very beginning, our engineers will work closely with your product development team to help you feel confident through the entire product introduction process.

Why Choose CJT?

Predictability – Simulation software helps design a mold and a process that will produce quality parts consistently, before the mold steel is cut.

Speed – Programmable CNC machines insure that mold components are being made around the clock, 24/7.

Lower Cost – With predictive software eliminating mistakes in design, CNC machines operating around the clock and reducing the labor content of the mold, you can be assured of the most competitively priced molds in the world.
